Graham Potter Has Parted Ways With Chelsea

Following Saturday’s 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa, the management of Chelsea  has parted ways with their manager Graham Potter after less than seven months on the job.

The owners of the club, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali stated “on behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person.

He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome”.

Since taking over for Thomas Tuchel on September 8, things have not been well with Manager Potter at the club in terms of winning. The Englishman has a record of 11 losses in 31 matches at Stamford Bridge.

The club has spent over £550 million on new players but is still looking for a new manager despite the influx of talent.

With their most recent defeat, Chelsea now finds themselves at the 11th position of the league table with 12 points behind the Premier League’s top four teams.

With about 10 league games left to play as well as the Champions league quarterfinals qualification, Chelsea seeks to give their all in order to have a successful season finale.

In September, after spending £255 million on transfers throughout the summer, Potter replaced Tuchel, who won three trophies in 20 months at Stamford Bridge.

In January, owner Boehly went on an extraordinary spending binge, spending £288m.

There were a total of eight new acquisitions, including Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez and Ukrainian attacker Mykhailo Mudryk, but so far the new players have failed to gel.

Who takes over Graham Potter’s Position?

Following Graham Potter’s sack, there is the need for someone to immediately take over the position to keep things under control. According to reports, Bruno Saltor will take care of Chelsea as Interim coach as the club makes advances towards signing a new manager.

It is however speculated that Julian Nagelsmann might succeed Graham Potter as Chelsea’s head coach as he comes in as favorite.
