Chris Hughton Signs A Three-Year Contract As Black Stars Manager


Chris Hughton has been appointed as the new head coach of the Ghana national football team. The announcement was made on February 12, 2023, by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

According to verified reports,Chris Hughton Signs A Three-Year contract As Black Stars Manager, and has been entrusted with getting Ghana into the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations competition.

He is also expected to ensure Ghana’s participation in the 2026 World Cup and win the 2024 AFCON competition.

Hughton previously served as a technical advisor for the Ghanaian national team during Otto Addo’s tenure as head coach(interim coach). He now takes over from Charles Kwablan Akonnor, who was sacked in October 2022 after a string of poor results.

The unveiling of Hughton was initially scheduled to take place in Kumasi before Ghana’s match with Angola. It was postponed due to the passing of his father.

The GFA has now established the time and place for a ceremony at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to officially announce his contract and validate his appointment.

GFA’s Statement:

“Black Stars Coach Chris Hughton will be unveiled in Kumasi on Monday, March 20, 2023, as part of the build-up to the match against Angola.

“The former Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur manager will be presented to the media to share his vision, ideology, and expectations with the public in Kumasi.

“The first engagement between the coach and the media in Kumasi will be a platform for the Football Association to also make public the targets, terms of engagement, and other relevant information pertaining to the manager’s work.

“The time and venue will be officially communicated in the coming days”.

Summary Of Chris Hughton’s Career So Far:

Hughton is a former professional footballer. He played as a defender for Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Brentford, among others. He began his coaching career at Tottenham.

There he served as a coach and assistant manager before taking over as caretaker manager in 1997. He later managed Newcastle United, Birmingham City, Norwich City, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Nottingham Forest.

During his managerial career, Hughton has achieved promotion to the Premier League on three occasions. He did so with Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Norwich City. He has also won the Championship Manager of the Month award four times.
